What’s The Tooth Fairy Paying These Days?

download (12)

Ok, maybe your high school students have lost all their baby teeth, but they might be curious about this…who knew that someone actually tracked this stat. Since my six year old son recently lost his first two teeth, I hope he doesn’t read this as he will surely get upset at his tightwad father.

The answer is….(hat tip to Marketplace): $3.19

That’s how much the tooth fairy is paying for teeth, according to an annual survey conducted by Visa. Whereas $3.43 was the average going rate for lost teeth in 2014, kids this year made just $3.19.

Oh, in case you were wondering, my son got $2 in the form of 2 one dollar coins.

Her recovery, which took almost a year, resulted in Tim getting to know the bank tellers quite well (and accumulating a savings account balance of over $300!). After volunteering in 2010 to create and teach a personal finance program at Eastside College Prep in East Palo Alto, Tim saw firsthand the impact of an engaging and activity-based curriculum, which inspired him to start a new non-profit, Next Gen Personal Finance.
